VITAM IMPENDERE VERO, IVVENALIS

Did Former Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong Get Off Too Easy?

We all remember the outrageous actions of Mike Nifong, the overzealous attorney who tried to frame up Duke lacrosse players on the charge of rape. Nifong lied, ignored evidence, ignored pertinent statements, and ignored the fact that the boys were 100% innocent. Nifong has since been disbarred, but his blatant abuse of power can not go unpunished! However, he has only been sentenced to one day in jail.

Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith III could have sentenced Nifong, who had already been stripped of his law license and had resigned from office, to as many as 30 days in jail and given him a fine as high as $500. Instead, he opted for a largely symbolic punishment _ the public humiliation of sending a prosecutor to jail _ that he said would help protect the integrity of the justice system.

I say that is not enough, he ruined the lives of those students, and they may never be able to see the world as they once had. Is one day in jail really a fitting punishment for this dick-head?

It didn’t ruin the student’s lives; they will be wealthy after this.
Also, after all the publicity they got, just think of all the pussy they’ll get. I mean, after all, that’s why the team had those whores dancing naked in the first place.

I hate to agree with that first comment, but you do have to admit these “players” would not have had any of these problems had they not paid strippers to join their party.

  3. Mr. President says:

    ∞Ω,

Yeah, but the malicious prosecutor deserves more jail time.

  4. Mr. President says:

While it is true that the players engaged in unwholesome behavior, that still does not excuse Nifong’s attempt to label them sex offenders. After all, they were completely innocent of rape, and once convicted, they would be labeled as confirmed rapists.

  5. Jake D. says:

I completely agree that false rape charges are unexcusable. Not so sure these “players” aren’t sex offenders though.

Thanks! Have great holiday yourself, Jake.

I didn’t know that you took interest in this case, Mr. President. Good posting from you.

Mr. Nifong should have had at least a one-week sentence.

Comment #1 was pretty dull, as I’m sure this family is still facing mounting legal costs. I have to ask, what additional wealth have they realized even after being declared innocent and the entire thing a hoax? I’m pretty sure you have these cerebral-leftist types who want to keep the pressure on these young men despite the fact that they’re innocent.

The next logical step now that the criminal citation is complete, I suppose, would be to sue the man. But for the sake of basic welfare, however, I’m not interested in putting him in the street since he reportedly doesn’t have many assets. They can always move to sue the accuser and/or the state.

Stop at nothing until full justice is done. Right now, that’s financial justice.

There are some things that money can’t buy. These kids were considered rapists by their peers (I’m sure the families of their close friends believed the lies, at least in part). No amount of money can negate that.

Also, remember the amount of publicity the “rape” case got from the liberal media?

Why wasn’t there equal coverage of Nifong’s trial?

  11. CT_V1 says:

“Also, remember the amount of publicity the “rape” case got from the liberal media?”

It was the bizarre sociological experiment they were dreaming of. It was the media, the Duke 88 and the Durham police department in the year 2006 secretly clamoring for some confirmation that the atrocities of the 1950’s (and before) still exist.

The truth is, I did believe the hype at first, but that belief unraveled even before the DNA results came back. I remember a Joe Scarborough interview with the Mayor of Reade Seligmann’s hometown in New Jersey. The Mayor knew the family personally. He took to rightfully defending Reade, when Scarborough countered (no quotes on hand) that his mugshot looked as if he was guilty. I never took issue with that at the time, but its a good modern statement of the media — looks and words can be deceiving.

  12. Mr. President says:

Oh yes, the Duke 88! Those great liberal intellects!

    CT, check your email.

Nifong is a Leftists that lynched these kids to get Black votes.
He’s a race manipulator that belives in diving America along racial lines.
    A typical Leftist!

  14. Trajan says:

    Hey PIP,
The clowns at Think Anti-America are blaming Bush for the bad Chinses goods!
    Everything is Bush’s fault!
    They’re insane!

  15. Mr. President says:

lynched these kids to get Black votes – Trajan

Yup. They believed the stripper’s accusations immediately and Nifong didn’t even wait to see the evidence. It’s another example of the racism of todays Left!

  16. Mr. President says:

    Trajan,

I know! They think that Bush is personally responsible for everything that goes wrong in the world! They’re crazy and funny, but it’s kind of sad too.

I’ll check in over there later to expose some of their lies!

  17. Trajan says:

I had a long nigght barley slept.
I’ll be on TP after 10.
Right now I posted as Ronjazz is a bum!

GOD BLESS The UNITED STATES of AMERICA!!!

  21. ∞Ω says:

All three of you here agreeing that Bush is a OK dude.
That’s kewl. Is there any kool aid left over?

  22. CT_V1 says:

    ∞Ω

What are you talking about, kid? Do you understand the topic of this thread?

  23. ∞Ω says:

Sorry, CT_V1, my bad, I had been on another thread reading.

I do agree though, Nifong should be tarred and feathered, just like alot of other Right Wingers like him.

  24. Mr. President says:

I hate to break it to ya’, ∞Ω, but Nifong is a confirmed Proglib, like yourself.

  25. ∞Ω says:

“but Nifong is a confirmed Proglib,”

Who confirmed that, Sean Hannity? LOL
