Paul Panders to Pot-Heads/Twoofers/Neo-Nazis: UPDATE – The Ron Paul Revulsion

Who supports Ron Paul? Well, drug users, Holocaust Deniers and Twoofers, it seems. Oh and don’t forget the…

Neo-Nazis!

[I've disabled most of the links, as they lead to hate-sites, if you wish to read them Carl in Jerusalem has them on the Israel Matzav post, linked at the bottom of this page]:

Ron Paul became a joke to many of us. He just stopped being a joke to me thanks to James Kirchick.

Daniel Siederaski of the Jewish Telegraph Agency has a story that should rile all those liberals oddly attracted to the presidential candidacy of Ron Paul: not only have neo-Nazis vocally expressed support for his campaign and form a crucial part of his online spam brigades, but one of their leaders has donated money and the Texas Republican hasn’t decided yet whether to return it. Siederaski has been trying to get in touch with the Paul campaign for an explanation, but thus far, his many phone calls have gone unreturned, leading him to conclude that “Ron Paul will take money from Nazis. But he won’t take telephone calls from Jews.”

Here’s the key part of Sieradski’s (Kirchick got the name wrong) post:

Indeed, Ron Paul has become the most popular candidate among right-wing extremists, including white separatists, neo-Nazis, and conspiracy theorists who believe that “the Zionists” were behind 9/11. This group includes Frank Weltner, creator of the antisemitic website JewWatch[dot]com, who in a YouTube video, accuses the “Zionist-controlled media” of attacking Paul’s candidacy. Paul has also received favorable coverage from the Vanguard News Network, a White Nationalist news organ, members of Stormfront, an online neo-Nazi community, as well as the National Alliance, the “mainstream” White Nationalist group featured prominently in Marc Levin’s 2005 film Protocols of Zion.

Of course, Congressman Paul cannot be held accountable for the views of his extremist supporters, unless he publicly acquiesces to those views. Yet, when his extremist supporters begin providing a substantial amount of campaign funds, things get a bit dicier. And that’s Paul’s biggest problem.

According to the Lone Star Times, White Nationalists have become a noticeable source of financial contributions to the Paul campaign. Indeed, even Don Black, the founder of Stormfront, and one of the most notorious neo-Nazis in America, has personally contributed $500 to Paul’s campaign.

Though it’s true that Paul’s campaign has no control over who sends them money in advance, once it becomes apparent that a neo-Nazi leader is sending money, any sensible politician who does not wish to be identified with neo-Nazism should send the money back. Not so for Ron Paul, however, whose campaign is still making up its mind as to whether or not to return Black’s money.

[...]

Frankly, this is a no-brainer. Any other candidate would unequivocally reject that money as soon as its donor’s identity was known. That Paul’s campaign needs time to think about it is shocking.

  1. Quite frankly, I’m not at all surprised that the neo-Nazis would support Ron Paul, since he is (to the best of my knowledge) the only candidate in favor of ending America’s support of Israel.

Regarding marijuana, especially medical marijuana: I actually agree somewhat with Ron Paul on this. Tetrahydrocannabinol is a very useful medicine, since it has an unusual mechanism and therefore can be used when more conventional painkillers are ineffective. It’s also pretty powerful, so there is no need to use dosages large enough to cause “highs”. Banning it just because it is frequently abused is like banning morphine just because it is frequently abused.

I also agree that using marijuana, even non-medical marijuana, either should not be a crime or should not be punished so severely. It obviously hasn’t had a deterrent effect, and it is clogging up our prisons. There’s also the minor issue of justice: PCP or meth is one thing, marijuana is quite another.

Selling or producing it, however, is another matter. Both of those, as well as smuggling it, should remain illegal.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve smoked grass in the past. But I will say this, it makes ya’ lazy… ah forget it, I have no problem with being more lenient when it comes to marihuana laws. But, just like smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol, marihuana shouldn’t be available for individuals under a certain age. Paul is a little irresponsible if you ask me.

Of course, he’s never going be elected so all this is beside the point, but it’s still funny.

O/T – Some of these comments are pretty funny:

The Official Blog of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

For example this one, from ‘Martha Washington’:

    Martha Washington mtv…@gmail.com
How does it feel to be the most hated person on the planet?

    :D

  4. That’s peculiar…

One of the older comments on that site is from me; however, it appears to have been substantially altered:

    J. K. fak…@ikillclowns.c
President of Iran, Dr. Ahmadinejad, I think that this blog is a wonderful idea and I appreciate the time which you have spent to share your views truthfully and openly with the world, even in the English Language. I also find it fascinating that you – unlike our President – directly communicate with the people of the world and even accept feedback. I would love to see this done in my country. However, I have noticed that when I try to add a comment to your posts, commenting is configured only for speakers of Farsi – that is to say, the text goes from right to left and there are no English directions. Will you be adding a feature which will allow English speakers to easily comment directly to your posts? Thank you.

That’s not my name and it’s not my email address, but the part in bold is definitely my quote. It looks like they spruced it up and then put someone else’s name and email on it.

  5. konservo says:

That is odd. Are saying that, at the time, they only offered a comment section in Farsi?

If you commented in Farsi, maybe they took the liberty of adding a word here or there to your comment… you know, in order to better convey the sense of your original comment.

  6. No. To see what I’m talking about, go to http://www.ariadic.com‌, click on the middle tab, and start typing in English.

  7. While we’re off topic, you, and especially Trajan, might like this video.

As for the very first part, yes, that really is what it feels like to speak Arabic (I wish I was kidding, but I’m not).

Interesting. So you had to type the English transliteration of Farsi words in order to leave a comment? Or did it translate the English words as well?

  9. No…

This was quite a long time ago, and I don’t quite remember it well enough to explain.

  10. konservo says:

That’s cool, I get the picture.
