Pakistan, a country infested with radical Islamists, a country in possession of nuclear weapons over which the United States keeps a close watch, and a country in which sworn enemies of the United States reside. al-Qaida is claiming responsibility for the murder of Benazir Bhutto, citing as a motive the fact that Bhutto was on good terms with America and was a sign of Pakistan’s emergence from the archaic savagery which the AQ brand of Islamic law attempts to establish:
“We terminated the most precious American asset which vowed to defeat [the] mujahadeen,” Al-Qaeda’s commander and main spokesperson Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid told Adnkronos International (AKI) in a phone call from an unknown location, speaking in faltering English. Al-Yazid is the main al-Qaeda commander in Afghanistan.
Whether or not the terrorist organization was indeed behind the attack today has yet to be determined, but one thing that we know for sure is that they will exploit Bhutto’s death in order to further their unholy agenda.
We all know what happened in Afghanistan and, if left unchecked, that is exactly what these crazed killers would want in Pakistan. However, unlike Afghanistan, Pakistan has nukes. This is why it is crucial for our government and for Pakistan’s leaders to be on good terms, in order to prevent suicidal fanatics from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Thus, we see that Ron Paul represents the self-loathing, Blame-America-First mentality that would spell the end of the United States as we know if he or anyone like him ever found themselves in a position of significant political power:

Ron Paul 2008

Ron Paul should post at Think Progress
Huh?
Ron Paul has no idea what he’s talking about, it’s quite easy to sort out the lesser of two evils, especially when it’s between leaders like Musharaf and illegitimate Islamic extremists like al-Qaida, and terror organizations such as al-Qaida.
Trajan,
You’re right, he can trick the libs over there into backing his crazy isolationism just like the Commies tricked them into hating themselves and the Islamofascists tricked them into supporting jihadists in Palestine.
“al-Qaida is claiming responsibility”
Thank God. They’re still stupid.
Thanks for the link.
All the candidates seem to have debased themselves in using this tragedy as a talking point. Except for John Edwards.
His response is what I would demand from a world leader.
ps.
Pakistan is F*cked.
vermontdave,
Like who?
All I’ve seen is Fred Thompson answer a few questions, and he didn’t seem to “debase” himself. In fact, he seemed to talk alot of sense.
Ron Paul has always been a Blame-America-Firster, so there’s no real surprise here.
Do you know of any particular interviews, so I can try to find them online?
(I don’t really watch TV)
Mr. P,
Me neither.
Go look at Josh Marshalls site to see a rundown of the typical pandering by the field of candidates.
Democratic or Republican, they’re trying to spin it in their favor.
Actually, vermontdave, what he says is that:
But, he had to go back and make a note:
So the candidates themselves have not actually been pandering. Thompson, for example, in the clip I link to in my comment above, is merely answering questions that an interviewer is asking, he’s not going out of his way to pander. Ron Paul, of course, is nuts.
