Iran: Man Faces Death For Drinking Alcohol

Ah… that refreshing, cool, flavorful first gulp of my favorite brew after a long day of manual labor in the summer.

There’s nothing like it.

Unfortunately, in Iran, if you are caught drinking three times you face the death penalty!

Tehran, 31 Jan.(AKI) – A young Iranian man is facing execution after a court judged him a ‘hardened and incorrigible drinker,” Iranian daily Etemad Melli reported. A section of Tehran’s criminal court is currently deciding whether the 22-year-old man, known as Mohsen, should be executed.

Mohsen was arrested after allegedly being caught for the fourth time in possession of alcohol and in a state of drunkenness. He has already been sentenced to a flogging.

Article 179 of Iran’s penal code punishes with the death sentence anyone caught drinking alcohol more than three times.

That’s enough to make a man never hop on another Dingo™ again…

This is another reason why Islam sucks. Persia used to make great wine. Shiraz type wines started in Persia. Under the Shahs the Iranian wine industry was one of thre stronget. But like Ayatollah Khomenei said “There is no fun in Islam.” As always the Left which cares about human rights stays silent on this. Why they love this Fascist regime, boogles my mind.

Actually, wine production still is legal in Iran, but only for non-Muslims, such as Armenians.

    Sergei,
You are correct. Only non Muslims can produce wines in Iran. However people should be allowed to do what they want.
    It’s called freedom.

    Konservo,
Yes, under the Shah’s old regime Alcohol was legal and Iran had a very strong win industry. Women had rights and Iran was secularizing. The irony of the Islamic revolution is that it’s Arabizing Iran. Persians weren’t originally Muslim and the fact the Ayatollahs are imposing an Arab morals on Iran makes them traitors.
