Disgraceful
I’m not sure why this surprises me. It shouldn’t.
“I’ve been meeting with Hamas leaders for years,” Carter said.

Indeed it should surprise no one. From CNN.com on Feb. 2, 2006:
Jimmy Carter: Give Hamas a chance
April 14, 2008 at 12:58 am
This is the only way that the conflict is ever going to get solved.

Sergei,
So I take it that you consider HAMAS true and proper representatives of the Palestinian people?
Also, did you follow the link in the JPost article, here’s a snippet:
oh, and here’s another:
What exactly do you expect Carter to solve?

“So I take it that you consider HAMAS true and proper representatives of the Palestinian people?”
No, I consider them to be the de facto government of the Gaza Strip.
“What exactly do you expect Carter to solve?”
At least he will have a chance. The Bush administration’s not even trying, they apparently think that one day Meshaal and his cohorts will spontaneously convert to Jainism and become friendly vegan pacifists, and they don’t need to do squat. Reality doesn’t work that way.

A chance at what, though, Sergei?
Is he going to be talking about the propaganda that HAMAS instills in the Palestinian children?
Will he be talking about the suicide attacks?
Or will it be some good ol’ Jew-bashin’?
Good answer. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are also insane, anti-Semitic terrorists who are bent on the destruction of Israel.
What HAMAS is about:

“A chance at what, though, Sergei?”
From the article:
“I think that it’s very important that at least someone meet with the Hamas leaders to express their views, to ascertain what flexibility they have, to try to induce them to stop all attacks against innocent civilians in Israel and to cooperate with the Fatah as a group that unites the Palestinians, maybe to get them to agree to a cease-fire – things of this kind.”
————————————-
“But that doesn’t change the fact that they are also insane, anti-Semitic terrorists who are bent on the destruction of Israel.”
But that doesn’t change the fact that they are also the de facto government of the Gaza Strip. Whether or not they’re nice people has nothing to do with whether or not they’re relevant. By means of comparison, the North Koreans are the most evil people on the planet, but nobody thinks that we can disarm them by ignoring them.

Can some one please kill the traitor carter. He should be hung for treason. He ruined America, Iran, and Israel. Now he wants to cause more destruction.
April 14, 2008 at 6:06 am
After they’re killed everyone will be certain that they’re disarmed. islamofacists by any name will not be negotiated with. They have told us what they’re going to do, why do you not believe them? Hitler told us what he was going to do and everyone didn’t realize he meant it until Eisenhower toured the death camps. “Oh, he meant it”. Mein Kamph, my struggle, jihad, the struggle. Surprise, surprise. It’s staring you in the face and you keep trying to excuse it. Carter has been jumping through hoops while they’re being moved while he’s in mid-flight. He’s either really stupid or he’s working for them. I don’t think he’s stupid. Everything he does he does with malice and forethought. He will be in an orange jump suit and pink sneakers.

“Can some one please kill the traitor carter.”
Then we can have a functioning democracy, just like Iraq’s!
