VITAM IMPENDERE VERO, IVVENALIS

Suggestion

Before you leave a comment like this, which claims that there is a

“constant stereotyping and bashing [that] the media gives Islam,”

and that

“War [in Islam], therefore, is the last resort, and is subject to the rigorous conditions laid down by the sacred law. The term ‘jihad’ literally means ’struggle’. Muslims believe that there are two kinds of jihad. The other ‘jihad’ is the inner struggle of the soul which everyone wages against egotistic desires for the sake of attaining inner peace.”

or any other apologia, make sure that you’ve explained what the true, real Islam is to these guys:

Hamas MP and Cleric Yunis Al-Astal in a Friday Sermon: We Will Conquer Rome, and from There Continue to Conquer the Two Americas and Eastern Europe

This man claims to be a Muslim. He states:

Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion, so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security, and consolidation of power, and even to conquests thorough da’wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world. Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our Prophet Muhammad. Today, Rome is the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital, which has declared its hostility to Islam, and has planted the brothers of apes and pigs in Palestine in order to prevent the reawakening of Islam – this capital of theirs will be an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, and even Eastern Europe.

I believe that our children or our grandchildren will inherit our Jihad and our sacrifices, and Allah willing, the commanders of the conquest will come from among them. Today, we instill these good tidings in their souls, and by means of the mosques and the Koran books, and the history of our Prophets, his companions, and the great leaders, we prepare them for the mission of saving humanity from the hellfire on the brink of which they stand.

Hmm… it sounds to me that he is confirming that the violent, irrational version of Islam that people (whom Muslims and idiots like to label “Islamophobes”) complain about so much, is, in fact, a problem.

So, before you come here sniveling about how I have misconceptions about Islam, ask yourself:

  • Have you told HAMAS about their misconceptions?
  • Have you told HAMAS that they are not Muslims?
  • Isn’t it your duty as a Muslim to fight against the enemies of Islam?
  • Isn’t the fact that HAMAS is actually stating things such as the above worse than someone like myself merely pointing to their words with disapproval?
  • Do you really believe in your faith?
  • Then why the heck don’t you think HAMAS is an enemy of Islam?
  • Why no jihad on HAMAS?
  • Doesn’t Allah reward the strugglers more than the sitters?
  • Why are you still sitting?
  • Get your ass to Gaza and wage jihad (i.e. a defensive war against the enemies of Islam) on HAMAS, you are a Muslim aren’t you?

Or perhaps you are a hypocrite.

What does Allah think of hypocrites?

  2. Indeed, excellent post.

By the way, is it just me or was that ending shot of the rest of the mosque really anticlimactic? I was expecting something like this, or at least this, but that looks like a rented convention center.

  4. I actually don’t believe in waging “jihad” against anyone, and nor do I believe that violence is called for to stop a non-violent “Islamification.”

I think that groups of… um.. shall we say “evil doers” (such as HAMAS, but not limited to those who claim to be of a certain religion) should be opposed on non-religious grounds. If force is needed, which it often times is, then this too should not be a religiously motivated action, but rather a counter-terrorism or counter- “evil doer” action.

  5. Sergei,

    Yes, I do, thanks.

I’ll have to listen to more of those later, I finished the one that you linked to, though.

Well, if I were that kind of Muslim – I’d be an extremist. I don’t believe in violent Jihad – so my words will have to suffice:

Their is also a post about my Arabic teacher, now Grand Mufti of Bosnia which highlights this:

“It was this summer during the Israeli/Lebanon conflict that Reis-Ulema Mustafa Ceric had delivered a sermon in which he called upon the world to stop what was going on, not just in Lebanon, but to stop the rockets that are fired upon Israel:

“Even as the entire civilized world, aside from the United States and Tony Blair, is appalled by the massive Israeli crimes in Lebanon and Gaza, the Bosnia-Hercegovina reisu-l-ulema “led the prayers at the Gazi Husrevbegova mosque in Sarajevo”, after which he gave a sermon. In it, according to Dnevni avaz, he “called on the world to stop the war in the Middle East” and to “end the suffering of innocent civilians in Lebanon, Palestine and Israel”. He then expressed to the assembled worshippers his disappointment with the “lethargic conscience of humanity”, which cannot be awakened even by “the hundreds of bombs dropped on Lebanon and Gaza, nor by the hundreds of rockets fired at Israel”.

Ceric also explained to the worshippers “no one has a greater right, or obligation, than we in Sarajevo to raise our voices against the bombardment of Beirut and the rocket attacks against Haifa, because we know best what it means to live in a city under siege, without water and food, without electricity and defences against shells”.”

Neither do I. I was just making a point in an odd way. I appreciate the links you’ve provided.

    Hmm…

If they do, I will. I say if and not “when.”

    We shouldn’t stereotype. :P

(but, seriously, if people start to attack you personally, I’ll say something, but usually I let people defend themselves with their own words.)

That’s fine and that’s not what I’m looking for. “Silence is acceptance” is a two-way street, nice to know that you won’t be silent if the situation comes up :-)
