One wonders what goes through their minds as they sit there in court. Do they appreciate that, in being given a trial, they are being treated by their victims better than they treated their victims? Does this make them feel guilt? Do they fail to appreciate the irony, and instead feel outraged at what they perceive as injustice? Do they merely accept that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, that’s the way of the world? Do they view the judge as a patriot, seeking retribution in the name of a country they never cared about, or do they see him as a traitor, having fully equated themselves with the state? Saddam was convinced that he was the rightful ruler of Iraq up till the very end. Tariq Aziz and the others, however, are sane. How have they come to terms with what they did, and what is happening and will happen to them?
One wonders.
One wonders, but hopefully one will never know.
All governments in the third world countries practice death and killings on their people. Christ taught us to forgive our enemies, while governments are thirsty to kill even their own people
just to spread fear, if not finding their enemies. Bush is no different.
