New Nuclear Proposal from: the EU to: Iran

The EU offered Iran a “new package of proposals” in an effort to thwart the Islamic Republics nuclear ambitions.

If this situation with Iran turns ugly, and I sincerely hope it does not, it will not be for lack of diplomacy or for unwillingness to compromise on the part of the Western nations (+Russia and China… and what the hay, Germany too, they’re not Western)

Javier Solana, the High Representative of the European Union, on Saturday tabled a new package of proposals to keep the Islamic Republic of Iran from enriching uranium. The package was presented on behalf of China, Russia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States and carries the signatures of the foreign ministers of these countries, including US State Secretary Condoleeza Rice.

Germany’s not Western? For that matter, Russia’s not Western?

Yes, I make a distinction based on language. Inflection and Westernality are negatively correlated.

So that means that Iceland, Ireland, and Norway are not Western countries, but Bulgaria and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia are? What about Latin and Greek, which played such a large role in the formation and evolution of the West?

Well, classical Latin and Greek are historical languages. Those folks didn’t know any better.
