Sweet Jesus

When it comes to dealing with the Northern Virginia based Islamic Saudi Academy, a radical Saudi-funded Islamic school, Virginia Democrats Gerald Connolly and Gerald Hyland confront preachers of hate with a deadly cock-tail of incompetence and ignorance:

Fairfax County leaders asked U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice yesterday to determine whether the county should continue leasing property to the Islamic Saudi Academy following controversy surrounding the school’s teachings.

With unanimous support from the county’s Board of Supervisors, Chairman Gerald E. Connolly (D) sent a letter to Rice “formally requesting” that the State Department provide direction regarding the county’s one-year lease renewal, approved last month, with the Saudi Arabian government for operation of the academy.

“As a local governmental entity, Fairfax County is not capable of determining whether textbooks, written in Arabic, contain language that promotes violence or religious intolerance, or is otherwise offensive to the interests of the United States,” Connolly wrote. “The county simply does not employ the linguists and scholars required to make such a determination, and more important, such an effort is well beyond the scope and responsibility of local government.”

Look, Connolly, you wet-noodle, you can get the scholars and you can get the linguists. Fairfax is one of the wealthiest counties in the US. It’s obvious that you are merely passing the buck because, when it comes time to take action, you don’t have what it takes. Mr. Connolly, you make me sick.

The people of Fairfax Co. seem to understand, though… thank Jesus:

And I’m not even addressing the unreported child abuse in this post!

The WaPo explains, again, what the controversy is about:

At issue are recent reviews of teaching materials concluding that some textbooks used by the Islamic school in Fairfax contain language intolerant of Jews and other groups as well as passages that could be construed as advocating violence.

One review of academy textbooks was undertaken for the congressionally appointed U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, which recommended in October that the State Department close the school until it proves that it is not teaching a type of religious intolerance potentially dangerous to the United States.

Bahais and Shiite and Sufi Muslims are among those denounced in some academy texts, according to reviews of the books by the commission.

Rahima Abdullah, of the academy’s Education Department, reiterated the academy’s position that criticisms of its teachings have relied on out-of-context interpretations. She noted that the academy has revised a number of passages and will do so again if given direction from the State Department.

“Just like Fairfax County, we would like to know what the State Department would say, too,” she said. “They’ve had the books since 2007. We’ve done our best to comply with all requests by extending the books over to the State Department.”

This statement, that they’ve done their best to comply, is either a lie or, if it is true, the ISA school is grossly incompetent (much like the Fairfax school board and VA Dems). In reality, the ISA refused to comply.

The State Department press office did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

The Islamic Saudi Academy receives funding from the Saudi Embassy but operates independently. In addition to providing a set of textbooks to the State Department, the academy gave a set to Fairfax Supervisor Gerald W. Hyland (D-Mount Vernon), who, before the county agreed late last month to extend the lease for a year, told his fellow supervisors that there was nothing of concern in the materials.

I don’t like all these Dems and Geralds in charge, they seem to be doing all they can not to appear “Islamophobic.” What does it say when people have to stage demonstrations for government officials to close a school funded by a foreign country that teaches extremism, hatred and violence?

It’s the First Amendment in action, the Founders knew that there was a good chance that nincompoops would start screwing things up, so they guaranteed the freedom to assemble and petition the government. I guess to answer my question, the fact that they had to do this says that the school board and gov’t officials are nincompoops.

This is a press release we distributed today:

    VC TELLS CONNOLLY:
RETURN CONTRIBUTION FROM RADICAL ISLAMIC LOBBY

Connolly Contributor Uses Aliases and Has Links to Hamas

Washington, DC – The Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) has called on Fairfax County Supervisor Gerald Connolly to return a contribution his Congressional campaign received from a radical Islamic official and revisit the supervisors’ lease renewal decision concerning the Islamic Saudi Academy.

A Federal Election Commission report lists “Nehad Hammad” as the Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and reports that he donated $500 to the Congressional primary campaign of Gerald Connolly, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Law enforcement officials note that Hammad is an alias used by Nihad Awad who is the founder of CAIR and is listed on the group’s website as its Executive Director. Before founding CAIR, Awad served as spokesman for the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) which Federal officials have identified as a front-group for the violent terrorist organization Hamas.

According to several sources, Awad uses the name Nehad Hammad on some official forms such as IRS documents instead of the name Nihad Awad he uses publicly as a top official at CAIR. One former federal official refers to CAIR as “Terrorists R Us” and points to a long list of CAIR staff who have been convicted of financing terrorist activities.

“Mr. Connolly should return the check he received from Awad, Hammad or whatever his name is today,” said James Lafferty, a spokesman for the Traditional Values Coalition.

At a May hearing of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Chairman Connolly attempted to bully and shout down witnesses from TVC who quoted parts of ISA textbooks. He repeatedly accused the TVC witnesses of bigotry and yelled “slander” several times.

“The cause of Mr. Connolly’s anger and vehemence in defending the Islamic Saudi Academy is now apparent. Are there other leaders of radical Islam involved in or financing Mr. Connolly’s campaign?

“Mr. Connolly has set a new low for what value-neutral politicians will do to raise money or pander to the most radical voting blocs. He needs to come clean and scrub his campaign of all terrorist influence and sympathizers.

“He also needs to right the wrongs he has done and bring the same passion to reversing the decision of the Board of Supervisors to lease a former county school to the Saudi government. In a desperate attempt to save face, he tried to pawn it off on the State Department which does not have jurisdiction. It is an affront to every Fairfax County taxpayer to provide classrooms to those determined to indoctrinate young people to become the next generation of terrorists.”

May I see this report? CampaignMoney.com shows Hammad as donating to the campaigns of Kieth Ellison (2006), Ralph Nader (2004), Cynthia McKinney (2002), James Moran (2002), and George W. Bush (2000), but not Gerald Connolly.

More ignorance…Nihad Awwad is the exec. of CAIR not the nameless figure you made up. I think its hilarious the stupid attacks continue on ISA, I know tens of people who graduated from there who are anything but terrorist sympathizers. It almost makes me ashamed that you are from Fairfax County too..

Well, CampaignMoney.com indicates that he’s head of CAIR.

well then they’d be wrong as cair’s own website lists Nihad Awwad as its executive director, but of course i suppose in your eyes Cair is lying, or as most of you morons like to say “taqiyaa!!!!” which im sure you say with an accent that would induce massive cringes to Arabic speakers.

In any case, i know many people who have graduated from ISA who have not read anything close to what has been allegedly found in texts there, although its not even clear what has or has not been found, so really this is all an excuse for the xenophobes to get themselves in a masturbatin frenzy over dem goddam towelheads takin over. Have fun.

    .حاکم من نیستی

Thanks for not rendering judgment before you have all of the facts. I do not think that CAIR is lying; as you read above, “Nehad Hammad” is an alias; apparently the one he uses to give political donations.
