LGF: Obama’s “Fight The Smears” Creates Fake Anti-Palin Website in Attempt to Smear McCain/Palin With Lies? (Updated)

I don’t know why people think that Obama has utilized the web like no other politician before him. It seems to me that his tech people are grossly inept. After all, the moderate right-wing website Little Green Footballs has given the folks at My.BarackObama.com pointers on more than one occasion. It baffles the mind to think that Barack Obama or his people thought they could get away with this:

Sarah Palin (GOV-Alaska-Republican), supports gay rights, says Anchorage Daily News.

http://dwb.adn.com/news/government/legislature/story/8525563p-8419318c.html:

Quote “Gov. Sarah Palin vetoed a bill Thursday that sought to block the state from giving public employee benefits such as health insurance to same-sex couples.”

Quote “”It is the Governor’s intention to work with the legislature and to give the people of Alaska an opportunity to express their wishes and intentions whether these benefits should continue,” the statement from Palin’s administration said.”

Coghill said he’s interested in a new plan that would allow state employees to designate one person — maybe a same-sex partner, but also possibly a family member or roommate — who would be eligible for state-paid benefits. But the employee would have to pay to add that person to his or her benefits.”

Sarah Palin’s veto gave gays the same rights as married couples in Alaska.

A vote for McCain/Palin is a vote for gay marriage.

After checking the IP info, it seems that the folks who brought this anti-McCain/Palin smear have brought us other sites such as “Fight the Smears” and “Obama Tax Cut.”

Find out about the Linux console and all that other computer stuff over at Little Green Footballs.

If Obama/Obama’s people is/are really behind this, he/they ought to be ashamed.

They’re getting desperate though, and for good reason.

UPDATE:

I just checked out the Political Inquirer link that has been “automatically generated” below, here’s an excerpt:

the more they try to smear, the more the Hillary camp starts shifting to solid support (or at least ’stay at home’) for McCain/Palin.  Just go read the PUMA sites and you’ll see; their traffic keeps going up.

Even male beauty queens seem to draw out their claws when they see real competition, it would appear.

This is very true, not only with the PUMA site that PI linked to, but with Hillary Clinton Forums too, here are some selected comments (there’s over 8 pages so far in that one thread):

It seems that the Palin for VP pick is going over very well with many people.

    From LGF:

    UPDATE at 8/30/08 2:16:54 pm:

There is apparently no connection between these attack sites and the official Obama campaign; to get to the bottom of it I emailed the owner of an associated site, and here’s his reply:

    “I run ObamaTaxCut.com, or actually alchemytoday.com/obamataxcut

“I think the person who registered the domain and forwarded traffic to it also owns/ran ObamaDefense.com — this used to be a separate site with short defenses of various factually inaccurate charges against Obama during the primary, but the owner changed it to redirect to Obama’s site after the campaign made one themselves.”
