Head Of National Organization for Women LA Chapter and Hillary Clinton Praise Sarah Palin

Although Hillary Clinton’s typical supporters are far more left-leaning than the typical Sarah Palin supporter, that didn’t stop Hillary Clinton herself from praising Palin:

HILLARY CLINTON, Barack Obama’s defeated opponent in the Democratic primary, has infuriated his supporters by praising Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential candidate, for her performance in last week’s television debate.

“It is amazing, you know, she’s been thrust in the spotlight with very little national preparation and I think, all things considered, you saw a very composed and effective debater,” Clinton said.

Her husband Bill recently issued some compliments of his own. “I come from Arkansas, I get why she’s hot out there,” he said.

More praise, coming in the form of an endorsement, from a leader of an organization that had previously backed the Democratic ticket. According to GretaWire, the leader of the Los Angeles chapter of NOW is endorsing Palin, saying:

“This is what a feminist looks like”

  1. I have been a NOW member for years…but I will not renew my membership if you claim that Gov. Sarah Palin is what a femenist look like.

As Cecile Richards, President for Planned Parenthood said about voting for Sarah Palin:”Women voting for this ticket is just like chickens voting for Colonel Sanders.”

Well, I’m really disappointed with Shelly Mandell being the president for NOW in Los Angels. Was she representing NOW when she did that Statement about Sarah Pahlin? And why was she at a Republican event representing NOW?

Yesterday, Mandell introduced Palin in Carson with the words:” This is what a femenist looks like, “Mandell told the crowd. Like Gov.Sarah Palin.”

I really would appreciate an answer and an explanation.

Silly Rabbit, didn’t you know that a Republican woman is a traitor to her gender who wants to force raped women to randomly have babies?

I thought Feminism is supposed to be about making life more fair for women everywhere, for women of every race, creed, and political affiliation but it’s obvious that feminism was not about that at all. It was not about fairness for all women, it was only about fairness for the women who espouse a certain mind-set. Feminism today is just lip service if it seeks to exclude and silence women that are not liberal Democrats. I would consider feminism a sham except for the fact that liberal Democrats don’t have the market on feminism, we Republicans, and we Independents, and we centered Democrats have pushed aside the Gloria Stienams in America, and they have to accept that it’s our turn now, it’s not up to them anymore. You had your turn and your leaders betrayed you. It’s not up to you anymore. You can rant and rave all you like, it won’t change a thing. Now is the time for the Sarah Palins of America, we have united and we are moving forward ~ GET OUT OF OUR WAY!!
The fact that Hillary Clinton recognizes another strong, independent woman that has the courage of her convictions does not make her a traitor. Hillary Clinton is a true feminist that recognizes the face of another true feminist. We are WOMAN ~ hear us ROAR!!

I am so impressed by Shelly Mandell’s positive comments regarding Governor Palin. When did feminists become so narrow minded? I hope women are waking up to the fact that both political parties keep using reproductive rights every four years as a tool to keep dividing us? Wake up women! It’s not about Roe v. Wade… it’s about Rove AND Wade. Don’t be the glass ceiling to another woman who is standing up for her truth, and her views. Lead, follow or get out of the WAY! If NOW’s representatives keep supporting ALL women and not just some, maybe I’ll reinstate my membership afterall.

Someone just told me about NOW and Clinton endorsing Palin, and saying she is a feminist no less!
George Orwell …here we are. deep in the land of spin and lies, where a woman who is against safe and legal abortions and birth control is deemed a feminist! Who charges rape VICTIMS for the rape kits. Who thinks a teenage daughter HAS to be married as soon as she is pregnant.
I will never give a dime to NOW, you are not an organization for women at all.

Addendum WHEW! Shelley Mandell endorsed Palin but NOW does not endorse her. Mandell did this as an individual. NOW endorses Obama/Biden.

Since when is feminism only about birth control and abortions? Yes, Sarah Palin is pro-life, but she is not against birth control (per Time). She also did not charge victims for rape kits, a smear that has been debunked in many places including this piece by Jim Geraghty.

  10. NOW didn’t endorse Palin, Mandell did.

As for the pathetic attempt to “debunk” the Wasilla rape exam policy under Palin, the facts are clear.

  11. I didn’t say that Clinton or NOW endorsed Palin. I said that Clinton praised Palin and that the leader of the NOW LA chapter praised and endorsed Palin. I didn’t say “Mandell” because at the time of posting that is how the woman was identified.

If the town of Wasilla had in fact charged a victim for a rape kit, then the Finance Department would be able to document that, but from the Geraghty piece linked in my previous comment:

In light of Wasilla’s low number of rapes according to available FBI statistics (one to two per year, compared to Juneau’s 30-39), and the fact that the Wasilla Finance Department cannot find any record of charging a victim for a rape kit, it is entirely possible that no victim was ever charged.

Furthermore, Bob Owens not only found where Wasilla paid for rape kits, but that in the committee testimony in Alaska, NO law enforcement agencies were found to have billed victims, but some hospitals had.

  13. Stephen,

Did you read what you linked to? If so, did you understand it?

If you did, you would have realized that there is not one substantiated argument in that whole piece, except for the HuffPo link.

In fact, the damning evidence that Huffpo links to takes me to a page with the following documents:

    Nice try, Steve.

  14. *sigh* I read it. I researched it long before that, and before most of the liberal blogs picked it up.

: Knowles signs sexual assault bill

Frankly, I don’t see what’s so hard to understand. Palin’s hand-picked police chief publicly acknowledged the policy 8 years ago, Wasilla’s crime stats are available online, as are its budget records.

Either she was aware of what was going on in her town or she wasn’t. Given the amount of publicity Fannon was giving the issue, it’s hard to see how she could’ve missed it.

Regardless, you’ll have to decide on your own…

Would that be the police chief she fired and then supported another candidate over when he ran for mayor? Of course, even he at the time was trying to force convicted rapists to pay for the kits as part of their restitution. And then there’s the simple fact that it was a policy (and a not uncommon policy in other towns and other states) that she inherited when she became mayor and that was never actually enforced.

Del Smith, the state’s deputy commissioner at the Department of Public Safety, testified in support of the rape-kit-charging-ban legislation during multiple hearings. During one, state representative Jeannette James asked if she “understood correctly that Mr. Smith is saying that the department has never billed a victim for exams.”

Smith replied that “the department might have been billed, but he has not found any police agency that has ever billed a victim.”

To clarify: In preparation to attend a hearing and support the bill, one of the state’s top law-enforcement officials found no case of a rape victim ever being charged. And roughly a month after 30 Democratic lawyers, investigators, and opposition researchers, not to mention reporters from every major news agency in the country, landed in Alaska, we still have no instances to consider.

  17. Stephen,

Um… so what’s the accusation? She became mayor of a town with a messed up law?
    … Okay. What of it?

    Speaking of Hillary Clinton:

There is bad news about her husband.

It is opined that Bill Clinton committed racist hate crimes, and I am not free to say anything further about it.
