Credit Where It’s Due
Have you seen the Wiki page for ‘Muhammad‘ lately?
I just checked and found the following before the standard info:
Recently small Islamic groups made empty threats towards South Park’s Creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, over their recent episode “200″ and “201″ which involved the prophet Muhammad making an appearance on the show. Although he is never once seen (cause he’s in the back of a U-haul or being covered by a black censor bar) the episode was pulled by Comedy Central, along with “The Super Best Friends” episode which suggested Muhammad and all religious figures were friends. The Muslim people need to learn to take a joke instead of having a tantrum like infants when someone laughs at them. Free speech is something people should be fighting for.
Since this will probably be erased soon, I grabbed a screen shot.
I have to give this wiki page credit. Usually the information provided by registered users is overly P.C. with a leftist bias.
WOTD: Caricature
Today’s Word of the Day is ‘Caricature.’
Pronunciation: \ˈker-i-kə-ˌchu̇r, -ˌchər, -ˌtyu̇r, -ˌtu̇r, -ˈka-ri-\Function: nounEtymology: Italian caricatura, literally, act of loading, from caricare to load, from Late Latin carricareDate: 17121 : exaggeration by means of often ludicrous distortion of parts or characteristics
2 : a representation especially in literature or art that has the qualities of caricature
3 : a distortion so gross as to seem like caricature
So, for example, the following is a caricature:
However, the image described and shown below, is not:
A radical Islamic website is warning the creators of “South Park” that they could face violent retribution for depicting the Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit during an episode broadcast on Comedy Central last week.
RevolutionMuslim.com posted the warning following the 200th episode of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s “South Park,” which included a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad disguised in a bear suit. The Web posting also included a graphic photo of Theo van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was murdered in 2004 after making a documentary on violence against Muslim women.
No, the 200th episode of South Park did not feature a ‘caricature’ of Muhammad. It featured a caricature of the actions of media outlets that are too wimpy to show pictures of Muhammad.
‘King of Pork’ and ‘Top Narcissist’ Awards
Citizens Against Government Waste has tracked and analyzed the earmarks and pork-barrel projects on the agenda for Big Government bureaucrats in 2009. The result of this analysis is The Congressional Pig Book:
The Congressional Pig Book is CAGW’s annual compilation of the pork-barrel projects in the federal budget. The 2010 Pig Book identified 9,129 projects at a cost of $16.5 billion in the 12 Appropriations Acts for fiscal 2009.
CNSNews.com reports that three law-makers stood out and ‘won’ special recognition:
(CNSNews.com) - Sens. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), and Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) and were the top award “winners” in the 2010 Congressional Pig Book Awards issued Wednesday by the taxpayer group Citizens Against Government Waste.
Harkin and Byrd jointly won the “Narcissist Award” for 2010 – a little-coveted award given to those members of Congress who request taxpayer money to fund projects named after themselves.
Harkin asked for $7,287,000 to continue what he calls the “Harkin Grant” program for renovating Iowa public schools.
Byrd similarly asked that $7 million in taxpayer funds be directed to the Robert C. Byrd Institute of Advanced Flexible Manufacturing Systems, which provides workforce training in technical manufacturing skills.
Meanwhile, Cochran, a Republican, beat out Democrat Byrd for the title of “King of Pork”
This Big Government spending is disgraceful and needs to stop.
Misleading Headline Shows AP Bias
Imagine what I thought when I saw this headline and photo on the Yahoo! homepage:
Wrong video of health protest spurs N-word feud
-
I thought that the AP was playing catch-up with real news outlets like BigGovernment.com and FOXNews. But, no. The AP article tries to argue that the ‘N-word feud’ was ‘spurred’ by a video.
What does the video show? Not much. Indeed, new interviews show that a much-viewed YouTube recording cited as evidence by conservatives was actually shot well after the time in question
…
Breitbart posted two columns on his Web site saying the claims were fabricated. Both led with a 48-second YouTube video showing Lewis, Carson, other Congressional Black Caucus members and staffers leaving the Capitol. Some of the group were videotaping the booing crowd.Breitbart asked why the epithet was not captured by the black lawmakers’ cameras, and why nobody reacted as if they had heard the slur. He also questioned whether the epithets could have been shouted by liberals planted in the crowd.
But the 48-second video was shot as the group was leaving the Capitol — at least one hour after Lewis, D-Ga., and Carson walked to the Capitol, which is when they said the slurs were used.
Questioned about using a video on his Web site from the wrong moment, Breitbart stood by his claim that the lawmakers were lying.
“I’m not saying the video was conclusive proof,” he said.
Of course the video is not conclusive proof. This is America and, according to our laws, Americans are innocent until proven guilty. In this case, no one can even prove an inappropriate act (i.e., yelling the n-word) took place. That’s because it did not happen (trust me, I was there). It follows that NO video would be the ‘right’ video, for the AP, since they have a pro-Obama Leftist bias.
Show Some Class, Grayson
This is funny. The flamboyant and eccentric Florida Congressman, Alan Grayson (D), is caught on someone’s cell-phone camera interrupting a Republican gathering at a local restaurant.

A Bold Statement in the Age of Obama
This would cause quite a stir if anyone were paying attention:
WHEREAS, April is the month in which the people of Virginia joined the Confederate States of America in a four year war between the states for independence that concluded at Appomattox Courthouse; and
WHEREAS, Virginia has long recognized her Confederate history, the numerous civil war battlefields that mark every region of the state, the leaders and individuals in the Army, Navy and at home who fought for their homes and communities and Commonwealth in a time very different than ours today; and
WHEREAS, it is important for all Virginians to reflect upon our Commonwealth’s shared history, to understand the sacrifices of the Confederate leaders, soldiers and citizens during the period of the Civil War, and to recognize how our history has led to our present; and
WHEREAS, Confederate historical sites such as the White House of the Confederacy are open for people to visit in Richmond today, and
WHEREAS, all Virginians can appreciate the fact that when ultimately overwhelmed by the insurmountable numbers and resources of the Union Army, the surviving, imprisoned and injured Confederate soldiers gave their word and allegiance to the United States of America, and returned to their homes and families to rebuild their communities in peace, following the instruction of General Robert E. Lee of Virginia, who wrote that, “…all should unite in honest efforts to obliterate the effects of war and to restore the blessings of peace.”; and
WHEREAS, this defining chapter in Virginia’s history should not be forgotten, but instead should be studied, understood and remembered by all Virginians, both in the context of the time in which it took place, but also in the context of the time in which we live, and this study and remembrance takes on particular importance as the Commonwealth prepares to welcome the nation and the world to visit Virginia for the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the Civil War, a four-year period in which the exploration of our history can benefit all;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert McDonnell, do hereby recognize April 2010 as CONFEDERATE HISTORY MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
