The America of Ann Coulter’s Dreams

While she was on his show, Ann Coulter was asked by Donny Deutsch what her ideal America would look like. After trying to answer him several times, only for him to cut her answers short, Coulter tells Deutsch that in the America of her dreams everyone would be Christian because it would make things much simpler.

(H/T Hot Air)

Deutsch twisted Coulter’s words so that he could feign outrage. The whole time all Ann could do was sit there and laugh.

At one point Deutsch tries to equivocate Coulter’s remarks with the words of Ahmadinejad, this is a pathetic tactic because not only is it dishonest, but it would only work if the audience was dumb enough to fall for it. The most striking difference between Ann’s words and the words of Ahmadinejad, it seems to me, is that Ann was asked to describe her ideal country and she responded that, among other things, everyone would be Christian, whereas Ahmadinejad calls for Israel to be wiped off the map, literally, in real life. It’s pretty clear that Deutsch expected a controversial statement from Ms. Coulter and when she didn’t give him one, he made something up. As Allahpundit at Hot Air explains,

She thinks Christians have been saved by Christ and Jews haven’t quite gotten there yet, but they will.

Whether or not this interpretation is agreed upon by all Christians is beside the point. Coulter didn’t say anything to indicate that she held anti-Semitic views, for she was speaking hypothetically.

And anyway, if what Coulter said makes her a bigot, then what are we to say about the author of the following verse:

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

Hmm… ?

Maybe we should rewrite the rock and roll history books, since it is now clear that John Lennon was anti-Semitic and anti-American.

Ahmadinejad calls for Israel to be wiped off the map, literally, in real life.

    Mr. P,
    You can’t prove that.

And Ann Coulter’s fame is fading.

TEHRAN (Reuters) – Iran’s president said on Sunday the Lebanese and the Palestinians had pressed a “countdown button” to bring an end to Israel.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who triggered outrage in the West two years ago when he said Israel should be “wiped off the map”, has often referred to the destruction of the Jewish state but says Iran is not a threat.

“With God’s help, the countdown button for the destruction of the Zionist regime has been pushed by the hands of the children of Lebanon and Palestine,” Ahmadinejad said in a speech.

“By God’s will, we will witness the destruction of this regime in the near future,” he said. He did not elaborate.

    Mr P,
As to Ann Coulter, I know people who grew up with her.

    What you quoted from Reuters,
when he said Israel should be “wiped off the map”,

That is not correct. The MSM says it, but it doesn’t make it true.
    He’s quoting Khomeini

Don’t get me wrong. I think the Iranian system of gov’t is way more fucked up than ours, but we should at least get our facts straight.

    ps.
    Happy Friday.

  4. vermontdave,

Ahmadinejad was a Khomeni cultist, as a young man Mahmoud help silence opposition to the Revolution.

It’s true that Khomeini said those words, but Ahmadinejad has reiterated them:

“As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map,” said Ahmadinejad, referring to Iran’s revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini.

“The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land”

“One hundred years ago the last trench of Islam fell, when the oppressors went towards the creation the Zionist regime. It is using it as a fort to spread its aims in the heart of the Islamic world.”

In September, Bahrain announced it was ending a decades-old law banning trade ties with Israel. Earlier this month, Qatar said it was donating US$6 million to help build a soccer stadium for a mixed Arab-Jewish team, the first such financial assistance by an Arab state for any town inside Israel.

The modest but unprecedented steps were seen as a response to Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in September. Nevertheless, Ahmadinejad said, “There is no doubt that the new wave (of attacks) in Palestine will soon wipe off this disgraceful blot (Israel) from the face of the Islamic world.”

“Ahmadinejad has clearly declared the doctrine of his government. He is returning Iran to the revolutionary goals it was pursuing in the 1980s,” said Mohammad Sadeq Hosseini, an expert on Middle Eastern affairs.

“By these comments, Ahmadinejad is committing himself to those goals. He is also sending the message that his government won’t back down.”

So, yes, the Iranians are in more trouble than we are.

    Are we straight?

I wasn’t asking if the Iranians are in more trouble. Why would you bring that up?

  6. I was merely trying to assure you that I wasn’t “getting you wrong”

Don’t get me wrong. I think the Iranian system of gov’t is way more fucked up than ours, but we should at least get our facts straight.

But instead of saying that the Iranian govt is “more fucked up,” I chose to go with the Iranians “are in more trouble.”

I wasn’t trying to change the topic.

The fact is Coulter descrided Christian theology.
Christians because we accept the Messiah are the perfected Jews.
Jews don’t accept the Messiah so they still follow the laws of Moses.
    That’s not Anti-Semetic.
    Christians support Israel.
NY Jews like Deutch support Ahmadinejad.
    So who’s the real Jews?
Jesus was crucified by my Roman Ancestors as “King of the Jews”

    Trajan,
That is a point of view that I have never taken into consideration.
Are you a New York Jew?

  10. I think it’s pretty clear what happened. She told a practicing Jew that his religion was imperfect, and that in order to become perfect, he should adopt her religion, which is superior. He found this insulting.

By means of comparison, imagine that the conversation had gone like this:

DONNY DEUTSCH: We should be Muslim? It would be better if we were all Muslim?
    ‘ANN BINT YAHYĀ AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: Yes.
DEUTSCH: We should all be Muslim.
AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: Yes; would you like to come to Friday prayer with me, Donny?
DEUTSCH: So I should not be a Christian, I should be a Muslim and this would be a better place.
AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: Well, you could be a practicing Christian, but you’re not.
DEUTSCH: I actually am; that’s not true; I really am. But — so we would be better if there were no Christians, no Buddhists —
    AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: Well, whenever I’m harangued by —
    DEUTSCH:You can’t believe that.
    AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: —conservatives on diversity—
    DEUTSCH: Here you go again!
AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: No, it’s true. I give all these speeches at mosques across America…

    [snip]

    DEUTSCH: …I mean, no Christians?
AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: No, we just want Christians to be perfected, as they say.
DEUTSCH: Wow. You didn’t really say that, did you?
AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: Yeah, that’s what Islam is. We believe the Christians’ Book, but ours is more like an instruction manual. We have laws, you have to make things up as you go along.
DEUTSCH: When you say something absurd like that—
    AL-NĪŪ-YURKĪ: What’s absurd?
DEUTSCH: “Christians are going to be perfected.” I’m going to go off to try to perfect myself. ‘Ann bint Yahyā al-Nīū-Yurkī, the author of “If Republicans had any brains they’d be Islamo-Stalinists”, and if ‘Ann bint Yahyā al-Nīū-Yurkī had any brains, she wouldn’t be saying that Christians need to be perfected. I’m offended by that personally. And we’ll have more Big Idea when we come back.

  11. LOL!
    Pretty funny, Sergei!

    In another interview she said:

I stated the doctrine of Christianity. Apparently, as we’re always told in church, but you don’t always, you don’t always see it, Christianity is a radical and offensive doctrine.

I can only imagine a Muslim saying that about Islam!
