Bush: “The United States Strongly Condemns This Cowardly Act By Murderous Extremists”

Today President Bush extended condolences to the family and friends of all those who were killed today by Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan. The intended target of the cowardly suicide bombing was once again Benazir Bhutto, who was one of the dead.

MSNBC reports that Bhutto was shot twice, once in the neck and once in the chest, as she was leaving a rally. The shooter then blew himself up in tradition with the standard Islamic extremist M.O. While some of Bhutto’s supporters are blaming the Pakistani government, especially Musharaff. Bhutto’s actual party is not officially blaming the government, but they are pointing out Bhutto’s previous statements regarding jihadists, such as al-Qaida, who have influence in Pakistan’s military. 1. It’s not yet clear who’s responsible; most people are blaming Musharraf. I hope it was Musharraf, because if it really was the Apostasy, it will represent an extremely disturbing — and dangerous — refinement of their strategy, one that combines all of Zarqawi’s strengths with none of his weaknesses.

    p.s.: Al Jazeera?

I think it might have Musharaff.
That’s who most Pakistanis are blaming.

  4. Bhutto wrote that if she were to be killed she would hold Musharaf responsible. But only because he failed to protect her from Islamic extremists. But the thing is, she was already targeted at twice while she was under Musharaf’s protection, and she managed to stay alive, so Musharaf wasn’t completely negligent.

Ultimately it was Islamic fundamentalists who are really responsible for the killings, not Musharaf.

    Truye, Konservo.
I was just saying who many Pakis are blaming.
But Al-Qaeda proabably did it to split their opponents.
